Margaret Ann McDermott

McDermott, Margaret Ann TROY Margaret Ann "Peg" McDermott, daughter of the late Hugh Hill and Mary A. Hill of Chelmsford, Mass., passed away at Samaritan Hospital in Troy on January 9, 2019. Peg was the wife of the late John F. "Jack" McDermott. Peg graduated from Norwich High School in Norwich in 1956. Peg was a member of the Wynantskill Ladies Auxiliary and The Troy Senior Citizens Center. She was employed by the Rensselaer County Bureau of Finance as a secretary for 27 years. Peg enjoyed her family gatherings, traveling, bingo, crocheting and her friends at the Senior Center and Van Rensselaer Manor. Peg was the loving mother of Michael McDermott of Troy, Brian McDermott (Bert Duplechien) of Atlanta, Debra Ohlman of Menands, Lisa Alexopoulos (Christopher) of Cohoes, Cory McDermott (Terri) of Clifton Park, Gary McDermott of Troy and Margaret McDermott. Peg was the sister of Robert Hill (Beth) of Riverside, Calif. Peg was the grandmother of Christina, Michael and Andrew McDermott, Grant Ohlman Jr., Megan Alexopoulos, Amanda and Matthew McDermott; and great-grandmother of Kayden Gardiner, Sophia McDermott and the late Lily Ann Schmitt. Peg leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Carol Jean McDermott and Anne Marie McDermott; brother-in-law James McDermott and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held at The John H. Clinton Funeral Home, Inc., 336 Third St., Troy on Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
